The Indigenous Peoples’ Commission stands firmly with the family and loved ones of Colten Boushie.

The Indigenous Peoples’ Commission first and foremost asks for prayers for the family and loved ones of Colten Boushie and the Red Pheasant Nation. The injustice that was the Stanley Trial disturbs us all.

If Canada and Canadians are true to a commitment of reconciliation with Indigenous peoples, we ask all Canadians, both Indigenous and non-Indigenous to show support in Colten Boushie rallies, events and prayer circles going on across our country and Turtle Island today and over the weekend.

We have heard our Prime Minister, Minister of Justice, Minister of Indigenous-Crown Relations and Minister of Indigenous Services all express support for the Boushie family, we hope and demand this leads to quick just measures and comprehensive long-term changes to address the inequity and systematic discrimination that exists in the Canadian justice system.

We call for full implementation of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) and United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP).
