APC Congratulates Grand Chief Derek Nepinak

WINNIPEG – The Aboriginal Peoples Commission of the Liberal Party of Canada released the following statement on the re-election of Derek Nepinak as Grand Chief of the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs:

“We look forward to working with Grand Chief Nepinak and the Chiefs of Manitoba leading up to the next Federal Election in 2015 and thereafter. It is imperative that we rebuild a new relationship and work towards narrowing the gap that exists between Indigenous people and Canadians” stated Cindy Woodhouse, president of the APC in Manitoba.

Kevin Seesequasis, APC National Co-Chair also added: “Grand Chief Nepinak’s work to ensure the original Treaty relationship is respected is a goal the APC shares. We look forward to working with the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs and the Liberal Party of Canada in demonstrating our commitment to building a new relationship based on mutual respect, open and honest dialogue, and a constant commitment to making positive change for our people.
