SASKATOON – The Aboriginal Peoples’ Commission of the Liberal Party of Canada is proud to announce that Lisa Abbott has been selected as the newest Indigenous candidate to join #TeamTrudeau!

Lisa grew up in Saskatoon and had early goals of being a lawyer – something that seemed out of reach for a First Nation child growing up in the heart of Saskatoon’s core neighborhood. As a university student, she single-parented her daughters and while it was a challenge, she realized that anything could be achieved with hope and hard work.

“Another hard working Indigenous person has been added to the growing list of #TeamTrudeau candidates” exclaims Kevin Seesequasis, national Co-Chair of the Aboriginal Peoples’ Commission. “Liberals recognize the importance of Indigenous participation, and I had the opportunity to witness first-hand Lisa’s incredible ability to motivate others to join her movement for change. Her work ethic, motivation, compassion, and commitment… she’s just the type of community-minded person Saskatoon West needs! She’ll make an excellent MP.”

“Lisa has been involved with the Aboriginal Peoples’ Commission for a few years now and has been an active agent for change in national, provincial and local events” said Reina Sinclair the president of the APC in Saskatchewan. “Lisa is dedicated, intelligent and compassionate and will bring those values to the House of Commons.”

The Aboriginal Peoples’ Commission congratulates Lisa on her nomination as the official candidate for Saskatoon West and is proud to welcome her to #TeamTrudeau!
