Statement: Making positive change in Ontario

October 16, 2012

For Immediate Release

October 16, 2012

OTTAWA – The Aboriginal Peoples’ Commission is extremely proud to welcome the following individuals to the APC executive team in Ontario:

  • Steven Vanloffeld: President, APC (O)
  • Laure Fournier: Women’s Representative, APC (O)
  • Cynthia Wesley-Esquimaux: Central Regional Representative, APC (O).

When the new APC executive was elected at the Liberal Party of Canada’s Biennial Convention in January of 2012, we made a commitment to hold the federal government to account for the injustices and discrimination shown towards First Nations, Inuit and Métis people across Canada. With the recent additions to our executive in Ontario – and as we continue to expand across the country – it is clearly evident that there are many who are concerned with the well-being of the First Peoples of Canada. Being actively engaged politically will help champion a positive change in our communities and for our families. We commend these individuals on taking an important first step and deciding to become stewards for equality.

Together we, in conjunction with the Liberal Party of Canada, will work for a prosperous and more equitable Canada, and continue making positive change for all Canadians”
