A Fund for Indigenous Candidates The Indigenous Peoples’ Commission encourages the participation of indigenous people at all levels of the Liberal Party of Canada, including Members of Parliament. One way of achieving this goal is to assist in funding electoral campaigns. The Indigenous Electoral Endowment Fund (IEEF), formerly Aboriginal Electoral Endowment Fund (AEEF) was established to help us achieve this objective. It encourages Indigenous communities to become involved in the electoral process, and assists with recruiting and assisting Indigenous candidates get elected. The IPC launched the Indigenous Electoral Endowment Fund at the Liberal Party of Canada Biennial Convention on March 19, 1998. Since it’s launch, the Indigenous Electoral Endowment Fund has supported many First Nations, Métis and Inuit candidates. Our continued goal is to increase Indigenous representation in Parliament. Our vision is to build up our fund to assist indigenous Liberal candidates in getting elected to the House of Commons. You can help fulfill this vision by encouraging the involvement of Indigenous communities in the federal electoral process, by developing a candidate selection and nomination strategy for Indigenous people during a federal election campaign or by-election, and by contributing financially to the Indigenous Electoral Endowment Fund. The Trustees of the Fund are the Co-Chairs and Vice-President (Operations) of the Indigenous Peoples’ Commission and the Chief Financial Officer of the Liberal Party of Canada. You can make a difference! Fundraising efforts are underway and ongoing.
